Day 6 - Sunday, April 3, 2005 - Northern Nevada

Starting the day at Winnemucca. A couple of hours before dawn, while camped at a Casino parking lot, a pickup truck with a large horse trailer pulled up beside Bigfoot. I could hear activity, then the horse trailer side door flung open and about 20 Mexicans started filing out, each with a couple of small travel bags. They scurried away and headed in all different directions. The "Coyotes" then got back in their truck and drove away. What I observed here was about 20 illegal aliens being dropped off by "Coyotes"...

I-80 traces the route taken by the ill-fated, California bound, Donner Party in 1846. The first transcontinental railroad also routed through this part of northern Nevada, along the Humboldt River...

The Humboldt Sink, where the Humboldt and Carson rivers terminate. This was an important landmark for the early emigrants of the 1840's and 1850's...

East of Reno strong crosswinds played havoc on Bigfoot. I heard reports that winde gusts south of Reno were reacing 90 mph, restricting travel for big rigs and RV's...

Along the Truckee River, nearing Reno...

Approaching Reno...

The vantage point from where I put in for the evening...
