We broke away from Highway 101 at the Klamath River and followed a back road to it's communication with the Pacific along California's Lost Coast...

Eureka, California. The Ingomar Club, formerly the Carson Mansion, and a couple of other Eureka Victorian mansions...
     
 
 
Logging trucks, along with chainsaw carving establishments, are common sights along the Pacific coast...
 
 
We passed scores, if not a hundred, chainsaw carving businesses along the way...
 
       
 
   
 
 
At Leggett, California we cut to the west, leaving Highway 101 for Highway 101. The first 40 miles of Hwy. 1 over the Coast Range was as curvy a stretch of road as I've seen. We rejoined the Pacific at dusk...
