Gibson Dove

I bought the Gibson Dove on February 24, 2007 at Hames Music in Gaffney, South Carolina... in the shadow of the Peachoid. Serial #: 00157044. Manufactured in Bozeman, Montana on January 15, 2007 (the 44th instrument stamped that day). This Dove came into being on my birthday, and I took possession when it was but 5 weeks and 5 days old.

My old Takamine (Serial #: 75081017) was manufactured in Sakashita, Japan - at the base of Mount Takamine - on Sunday, August 10th, 1975 (the 17th guitar made that day), and was given to me new by my parents as a high school graduation gift in the Spring of 1976. This guitar have been at my side ever since... and forever it shall be...

This is the spot where the house that my father was born and raised in stood, in Culberson, North Carolina. The Dove is just about where the old front porch would have been; where my father would have played guitar and mandolin when he was a young lad in the 1940's and early 50's. I could imagine my Uncle Fred picking "Spanish Fire Bells" at this spot, many years ago...

"Tomorrow Is a Long Time" (Bob Dylan)

... a couple more margaritas and another bottle of wine and I would have sounded pretty good...
