Day 8 (Saturday, June 11, 2005), Promontory Summit to Pendleton, Oregon

    

 

 

Morning breaks at Promontory Summit. My camp at the Golden Spike National Historic Site...

 

 

As had been the case the evening prior when I reached Promontory Summit, I was the only human in the area. I walked along the old tracks...

       

 

 

 

 

A couple of miles south of the Golden Spike National Monument I walked along the "last cut"...

 

       

 

 

 

 

 

Northward from the Salt Lake basin toward Idaho...
