Day 3 (Monday, June 6, 2005), Southern Illinois to Western
Missouri
I made my camp the proceeding evening at West Frankfort, Illinois and
breakfasted at a dinner on the main street. After breakfast I headed
north up I-57, then west on I-64 toward St. Louis...
I approached St. Louis in the vicinity of the speedway...
East St. Louis... near the confluence of the Mississippi and
Missouri Rivers, where the River Dubois (now the Wood River) meets the
Mississippi. This is where Lewis & Clark made their winter camp during
1803-1804, prior to starting the westward expedition in earnest...
