Leaving Camp Des Moines... traveling southeast across southeast Iowa, tracing just north of the Des Moines River. At this point in the trip I have picked up the pace considerably...

 

 

Ottumwa and Bloomfield, Iowa...

 

       

 

   

 

 

 

On through Pulaski, toward the Missouri border...

 

       

 

   

 

 

Entering Missouri...

   

Clark County, Missouri...

 

Proceeding southward through northeast Missouri, tracing just west of the Mississippi River...

 

 

I reached the banks of the mighty Mississippi River at Canton, Missouri, in Lewis County...

 

       

 

 

Approaching Hannibal I came upon a truck with a problem...

 

 

Hannibal, Missouri...

       

 

 

Just south of Hannibal I came upon first sign of North Carolina...

 

Highway 61 south of Hannibal is rough as a cob in places...

 

Limestone road cuts are plentiful through this area, as they are in Tennessee, west of the Appalachians...

 

Pike County, Missouri...

Crossing the Mississippi River into the Illinois country...
