The day started at Lake City in north Seattle with some pre-trip routine maintenance for Bigfoot...

 

 

South through Seattle...

 

       

 

   

 

 

Across the West Seattle Bridge and over the Duwamish River near its communication with Elliot Bay and Puget Sound... a fine view of the Seattle seaport...

 

 

I decided that the waters of the Pacific at Alki Beach, across Elliot Bay from Seattle, should be considered my point of departure and at Alki Beach I marked my trip mileage at 29,992...

 

       

 

 

 

 

Underway...

 

 

Parting glances of Seattle and Bellevue...

 

 

Leaving the eastern edge of the Seattle area at Issaquah and North Bend... into the Cascade foothills...

 

 

Just east of Seattle I saw Elk. Over the next few days I would see, by my estimate, twenty thousand elk and deer...

 

 

Over the Cascade Mountains by way of Snoqualmie Pass...

 

       

 

 

 

Down the eastern slope of the Cascades to Ellensburg...  along the Yakima River...

 

       

 

     

 

 

 

Continuing along the Yakima River through the Yakima Canyon...

 

       

 

   

 

 

Through the Yakima wine country...

 

I put in for the night at Tri Cities, in eastern Washington, near the confluence of the Columbia and Snake rivers...
