Day 3: The Eastern Side Of The Cascade Mountains

Breakfast in Kirkland at Hector's... eastward from Bellevue on I-90, over Snoqualmie Pass to Ellensburg... down the Yakima Canyon... continuing eastward on I-90 to the Columbia River... northward on the Columbia Plateau then westward to Leavenworth... westward through the Wenatchee Forest, over Stevens Pass, and back down to the Seattle area...

 

Breakfast at Hector's in Kirkland...

 

        

 

     

 

Mount Si, on the western edge of the Cascade Mountains... foggy and cool...

 

Ellensburg, on the eastern side of the Cascade range... hot and dry. We picked up sandwiches for a picnic in the Yakima Canyon...

Having our luncheon in the Yakima Canyon... with a strong wind blowing...

 

       

 

       

 

 

Father spotted a nice Harley rig as we passed back through Ellensburg. I'm sure that he was thinking that with the addition of a sidecar for Mother it would be perfect...

 

The Columbia River Vantage crossing...

 

Looking back at the Columbia River... with a strong, dry wind blowing...

         

       

 

Wild Horses - "Grandfather Cuts Loose the Ponies"... just east of the Vantage crossing, above the Columbia River...

 

The Columbia Plateau... proceeding on to Wenatchee...

Wenatchee National Forest and Stevens Pass...
