The trip began with a short ride on Seattle Metro Transit... from Bellevue to King Street Station in downtown Seattle. I got off in China Town and strolled over to the Amtrak station...

We crossed the Cascade Range between Oakridge and Chemult... the train slowed to a crawl on the steepest inclines...

 

 

While winding through the Cascades smoke from a Bend area forest fire could be seen...

 

 

I was seated in the dinner car with two ladies... as the sun set behind Mount Thielsen...
