Local rock legend Jake Berger stopped by my place on Greenway Ave (near the Bayou Kitchen) one afternoon, around September of 1993 as best I can recall, to see the old Orio accordion I had recently pulled out of storage. I started playing the riff that became "Beware The Cuckold", causing Jake to grab a guitar and chime in. The lyrics came fast, the chorus turned into a chant, and Jake coined the choice title. We had a rough cassette demo recording in about 30 minutes! Jake soon had his band, The Wire Mules, playing "Beware The Cuckold" at Jack Straw's, The Double Door Inn, The Stanleyville Grill, and other venues around Charlotte. A recording session at Jamie Hoover's Washiteria soon followed.
