Let It Go

Watching Frozen this year (2014) through the eyes of young Geneva Queen Elsa has been a facinating experience...

Geneva Queen Elsa
- Recorded April 12, 2014, in Tulalip, WA, on the way home from the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival. Geneva jumped up on a chair and presented a spontaneous, dramatic rendering of "Let It Go." Little Geneva was still absorbing the details of the characters and rolls at this point (as was I), and was still referring to herself as "Queen Anna." I had recently seen Frozen for the first time, but this was my initial "deep" exposure...

Sungha Jung - Guitar Instrumental
- Original arrangement... extremely nice guitar work...

Other Versions:

Demi Lovato - Single Version
- Demi's vocals are good when she's holding back a little, but the use of "singing runs" (melisma) degrades her performance. I prefer a straighter melody line as opposed to over-used vocal acrabatics, which is one reason I tend to prefer the Asian versions. That said, the Demi Lovato instrumental version is the version that first pulled me into this song.

Whistling Japanese
- Unknown piano/karaoke backing track...

Beef Seeds - Bluegrass (sort of)
- Original arrangement...
- Interesting take, but it would have benefited from an upright acoustic bass (instead of the electric bass)...

Filipino Ladies On Korean Show
- Fun, except for the annoying "vocal run" (melisma) at the 30 second mark...
