Christmas Eve afternoon... Mother was up and sitting in her living room recliner...

 

 

Later in the afternoon we were joined by Jan's husband Matt and his parents Bill & Marda, and my nephews Will & Ryan...

I was gifted a book - "Hard Tack & Coffee" - and a Lodge cast iron skillet...

Matt, Brian, and Mother. This turned out to be the last photo of our beloved Mother... A few minutes after this picture was taken, Mother looked up from her chair, startled. She turned to her right as if expecting to see someone and said "Jim?... Jim?" For a moment, Mother thought that Father was back with us...

 

 

Christmas Day...      Mother was no longer able to rise from her bed...
