Swiss Army Knife - SwissChamp XAVT, June 14, 2008

  

 

The SwissChamp XAVT, purchased Saturday, June 14, at Excalibur Cutlery at Bellevue Square Mall, Bellevue, WA. This exquisite tool has 80 implements, including a digital clock, altimeter, barometer, and thermometer. This is the largest Swiss Army Knife made by Victorinox...

 

Here the new SwissChamp XAVT is pictured to the left of my old and trusty (regular - smaller) SwissChamp... and a Marine Band "A" harmonica... all of which rest upon my copy of Ranger Doug's "Singing Cowboys"...

There is another collector's model, The Giant Swiss Army Knife, made by Wenger, that defies all attempt at description. If you ever see this behomoth in my collection you will know that I won the lottery...

 

The old (regular - smaller) SwissChamp which is always in my side bag... With 33 implements this is a tool with heft, but it is it still practical as an everyday-carry pocket tool. In my opinion, this is the largest Swiss Army knife practical for everyday-carry. The larger SwissChamp XAVT (pictured above) is less practical for everyday-carry...

 

The Leatherman "Wave" is a favorite tool as well. I like the "Wave" because the knife blades open without the arms having to be opened first...
