In Tacoma, Washington, south of Seattle at the south end of Puget Sound...
The festival was held in several downtown Tacoma venues, centered around
the Sheraton Hotel and Convention Center. We acclimated upon our Friday evening
arrival at Elliot's, in the Sheraton...
Next we attended the
Old & In The Grey show at the Convention Center...
Back at Elliot's... Jackstraw...
Saturday...
Shuttle services were provided by the Tacoma
firefighters, who were fine ambassadors for their fair city. I did
learn that Tacoma is not to be referred to as a "suburb" of Seattle
when in the presence of Tacoma firefighters!
Around the Sheraton...
Walking over to the First Baptist Church, which turned out to be the best
of the venues...
Inside the First Baptist Church...
Karl Shifflet & Big Country Show on the church stage. This was my
favorite show of the festival...
The Sawtooth Mountain Boys, also on the church stage, did a good
job...
Evening sets outside the Sheraton, and dinner at Harbor Lights...
Back at the First Baptist stage. Before the Navy Bluegrass Band
played the Navy held a re-enlistment ceremony for an officer at the local
submarine base...
Our last show of the day was
The Del McCoury Band at the Convention
Center...
Classic mandolins on display in the Sheraton lobby...
Sunday...
The next morning, Sunday, at the Tacoma Best Western... the clouds lifted...
There just happened to be an RV dealership next door to our Best Western... the view of Mt. Rainier was splendid...
Monday morning, back home. The sky was again exceptionally clear,
offering nice views of the snowcapped Olympic Mountains. These shots
were taken from just across the street from my Bellevue lodge...
