After my luncheon at Virginia City, heading back to Reno, I pulled over to admire these horses, silhouetted against the brilliant blue Nevada sky. As I put my eye to the camera I heard the distinct "report" of a rattle snake... very close. I lowered the camera and spotted a big rattler coiled and bobbing about 10 feet away. I slowly brought the camera back to my eye and tried to center on the snake, but it was gone. At that moment I did not know where the rattler had slithered off to, so I turned and high-stepped back to the car! I regret not getting a shot of that guy... |
