The short bus ride to Safeco Field in downtown Seattle...

 

     

 

Safeco Field...

       

 

Pre-meeting entertainment - The Microsoft Dot Nuts. They did an a cappella custom version of Tom Petty's "Free Falling" with the words "Steve Ballmer" substituted for "free falling..." "He's a bald guy, crazy 'bout ... ...yeah I'm Steve, Steve Ballmer now..."

 

The meeting begins with Bob Herbold...

The after-meeting party convened across the street from Safeco Field at the Seattle Convention Center (seen in the middle pic). The construction underway behind the Convention Center is on the site of the former KingDome, soon to be the new football stadium...

 

The party... A Neil Diamond cover band from San Francisco opened the show...

 

Cheap Trick headlined the party and put on a fine show! This was about the best corporate party band booking I've ever seen. As Rick Neilsen, Robin Zander, Bun E. Carlos, and Tom Petersson did what they do, I thought of several friends back in North Carolina - Pete, Rodney, Bob, Donnie (rest in peace) - who would have loved this!
