From our table we looked out upon the ship canal, where we could see scores of large salmon jumping up and out of the water, capturing low flying insects that ventured into harm's way. These salmon were presumably ascending the canal to, and through, the Ballard Locks, and on into Lake Union and Lake Washington and eventually into the spawning streams of the Cascades... |
