Day 8 - Atlanta and the Social Circle

We arose early in Chattanooga and drove down I-75 to Atlanta...

Just south of Atlanta we came to Griffin, Georgia, where my Father's two sisters live...

We visited with my Aunt Blanche and browsed the family archives...

Aunt Blanche is the family historian and archivist. I look forward to a return visit and going through all the old pictures and making digital copies...

The archives also hold this picture, but no one seems to claim the relationship! Certain theories have been put forward but I shall not repeat them here...

We also visited with my Aunt Lois, who owns an exquisite 1967 Buick Wildcat, in mint condition... amazingly low mileage...

From Atlanta we drove east a few miles, to Social Circle, Georgia, home of the Blue Willow Inn. It is important to note that Lewis Grizzard gave the Blue Willow his absolute highest mark - five bowls of turnip greens. The Blue Willow is generally considered to be the South's finest Southern Cooking restaurant...

On the way out of Social Circle, long about sundown...

We proceeded on, heading up to the Blairsville, Georgia / Murphy, North Carolina area...
