The biscuits were described as "from scratch" and they were in fact mighty good...

This painting hangs down at the Emigrant Museum at Donner Memorial State Park and shows the difficulty of crossing the pass - during the late Summer or early Fall, without snow. When members of the Donner Party tried to cross the pass the snow was 30 feet deep and even higher in drifts...

At the Ponderosa Ranch... you walk in the door and there hangs Hoss' and Little Joe's hats and vests. Yes, "Bonanza" was a TV show, but I grew up with it; and being here was like walking back into a former world, both real and fantasy. Behind the main house... markers for Ben, Little Joe, Hoss, and Hop Sing... I could almost hear Hop Sing saying - "Mr. Hoss, I good cook for you!"
 
This lady acquired Little Joe's actual jacket on eBay...
