Now I Got A River
Bill Noonan, 2003

Steven’s Pass is clear
For the first time this year
Heard it on the radio today
Apple trees in bloom above Wenatchee
Rivers risin’ with the snow melt
And a good warm Cascade rain

Been sleepin’ in the straw
On a farm near Yakima
But the river’s lookin’ better every day
Ran a drift boat up the Canyon
Put her in at Ellensburg
Worked the river
All that summer
I mean every bend and curve

I had a place back on the East coast
I paid the price
I had my ticket to the game
But one day on the way back from Seattle
I missed a plane
Now I got a river and a long time to complain
Now I got a river and a lotta time to complain

In the fall just turn me loose over on the old Palouse
Where my horses and my huntin’ dogs can range
Flushin birds out in those endless wheatfields
Till the snow comes back and blocks the pass again

I had a place back on the East coast
I paid the price I had my ticket to the game
But one day on the way back from Seattle
I missed a plane
Now I got a river and a lotta time to complain
Now I got a river and a long time to complain
Now I got a river, Now I got a river
Now I got a river and a long time to complain
