Day 2 (10-27-2000) - Gatwick Into Central London

   

 

Upon leaving Gatwick I motored out into the Surrey countryside to gain my confidence at left side driving before making my way into central London...

 

I made my way to central London by way of Purley, Croydon, Penge, Lewisham, then Brixton to Vauxhall. Not the most direct route, but then, I had barely a clue as to where I was going...

 

Upon reaching central London I had been awake for quite some time, so the Comfort Inn on South Lambeth Road looked especially inviting. It turned out that this particular Comfort Inn was still several days away from its actual opening, but the desk person said that he'd cut me a good deal if I wanted to put up anyway, in spite of the slightly unfinished state of the place. I gladly accepted the offer and took the honor of being the first registered guest at the Comfort Inn London-Vauxhall. Later the irony hit me - there I was in one of the oldest cities in the world and I was staying in it's newest room...
